Haircuts Stink!!

In preparation for my upcoming trip to California to visit my cousins, mommy wanted to make sure I looked spiffy, so she & daddy took me to get my hair cut today. Why they thought that would be a good idea is just beyond me!! I did not do well the first time mommy took me to get it professionally cut but I was lucky because she did not like the way they left a bald spot on my head when they took too much out of one spot so she just cut my hair from home after that. She did an OK job, nothing special- but it looked all right for a while. There were some techniques of layering that she did not know how to handle- so she decided to call in the professional replacement today and I was NOT happy! Even though she & daddy came prepared with Cat, my favorite stuffed animal and some M&M's- I totally freaked out. Mamma actually had to sit in the chair with me and hold my arms & legs the entire time that I was screaming bloody murder and flailing around like a fish out of water. Not fun for her & doubly not fun for me!!!! I really hope Miles & Annie appreciate what I went thru to look cute for them!! Well- I did survive the ordeal and came out looking pretty handsome, I must admit- and with a cool new Eagles football for my trouble!! As an added bonus, Mommom and Poppy decided to visit me today. It was nice to get some lovin' from them and some good football time to help in healing my bruised mental state from the haircut ordeal. Thanks for helping to salvage my day- you sure did turn my frown upside down!!!!!

Apology

Right away I need to apologize to Nana for ignoring her today when she & Grandpop came to visit! I was just totally obsesed with Grandpop today and wanted no part of Nana. If it makes you feel any better, Nana- once you left...I was banging on the door and whining your name. Naaaaanaaaaa...Naaaanaaaa!!!!!!! More than me not playing with you...I am so sorry that Grandpop will never let you live this down. I gave him ammunition for months, I think...so please accept my most sincere apology and I can't wait to see you & play only with you next time!! Know that even if I don't show it I love ya tons!!!! P.S- Grandpop...I had a lot of fun with you- but don't let Nana know, 'cause I don't want to rub it in!

Growin' Up

I am growing up so fast, showing my independence and acting like a big boy. Mommy has said that there is NO more baby in me anymore- and sometimes in certain situations she can flash forward and see me in years to come. When I am lounging, watching TV and just relaxing- she can see me as a teenager and it makes her both happy and sad all at the same time! Yup, mamma...I am growing up fast. You better try & keep up!

Hoovie Sitter

Mommy and daddy had a date night last night and Hoover the dog got to babysit me!!!!!!!! Nah, not really! CiCi and Bud were the official sitters, but Hoover and his smelly yet oh-so fluffy doggie bed were what occupied me for most of the evening. While mommy and daddy were eating dinner out and seeing the movie Avatar, I was having some 3-D fun of my own!!! I would hug & kiss Hoovie, then I would start from one end of the room and run with all the speed that my little legs could muster- then fly into the air and land with a thud on the dog bed!! Oh my...it was so fun! Mommy is contemplating just buying me a dog bed for my upcoming birthday, figuring it will give me hours upon hours of rumpusing fun time! I guess that is OK- but make sure you get one with my initials so everyone knows it is mine. I will still share it with Hoovie and let him lay on it in between my swan dives (oh, who am I kidding- they are more like cannonballs) when he comes to visit, though!!

Mommy & Daddy brought me home their 3-D glasses!!!
I look amazing, don't I??
Daddy looks better...

Back In The Saddle

Holidays, cold weather, sickness- all of which have stealthily gotten in the way of my daily routine of outdoor romps, activities and play dates. This week we jumped right back on the horse and got out there, resuming all the fun things that I have indeed missed recently! Mommy did a good job of organizing my week and keeping me really busy! Monday was   a play date with my buddy Brian. Tuesday I saw Brian again at a place called Jumpers. Mommy thought it would be more like an indoor gym for kiddies, but it was just full of moonbounces, which I did not like and only stayed inside of one for a photo op and about 23 additional seconds of petrified jostling. Maybe in a year or two! Wednesday was my music class where I was actually less berserk than my first class and mommy was not even embarrassed by me once!! YAY! Today was a play date with Will and his little sister Lizzie. To top the week off we also spent some time outdoors at the local parks, many walks around the block and some quality time in the backyard. Whew...I am pooped!!! Thank goodness we just have a mommy/son play date planned for tomorrow...

Tooth Torture

You'd think that cutting my 9th (very anticipated and long overdue) tooth would have been more painful than mommy trying to capture a picture of that toofer peeking through- but I am just not sure that this is the case!

A Fun Weekend

I was a lucky boy and got to go to Maryland this weekend to hang out with Mommom and Poppy.  Daddy completed the family fest when he came down later in the day for dinner and to spend the night. Mommom and Mamma went to a baby shower in the afternoon and Poppy was my lucky babysitter!!! We watched a movie, played and napped.  We also had some major good times wrestling around on the floor. This is pretty much a  typical daily activity for me when I insist that mommy lay down on her tummy and then I attack her from behind and wrestle and climb all over her- but I am not to sure if Poppy is used to wrestling a strong fella like me! When he was younger, he wrestled in school- but they did not have competitors like me!! Poppy did show me some moves, though- so he still has skillz! It was another warm day so we also headed down to their beach that is on the river and I looked at birds, played with sticks and wrote my name in the sand-some of my all time fav things! The beach had tons of ice that had washed ashore from the chilly water which was super cool. I had never seen anything like tht before and can now picture how polar bears and penguins live!  Seeing all those huge pieces of ice was awesome- but I am looking forward to summer so I can go in the water and run around I my bathing suit. 4-ish months and counting!!!!!

The Great Outdoors

After what seems like years of being cooped up inside from freezing temps and sickness- mommy and I spent hours outside today walking around the block, playing sports and of course having a nice sunny photo op! As you can see- my golf skills have just gotten better and better and my many faces of Jack have also gotten better, increasing in quantity and intensity!! Take a peek...

Play-Doh!

Well- it is that time of year again...when the whole fmily just seems to pass one sickness back and forth and back and forth. Mommy seems to think that one of us has, at one point, been sick from right before the holidays! That being said- we have had to spend a lot of time indoors, which is just unacceptable to me. The frigid weather has not helped either. The times we have tried to venture out into these arctic temperatures- I just end up with a wicked wind burn on my cheeks! Anywhoo- since we have been inside much more than either mommy or I like- we have had to look for different activities to keep me occupied. Mommy gave me Play-Doh the other day and I love it!! She helps me make shapes, balls, braids long pieces and then I tear them apart! Most of my play does not involve creating- but destruction...which I am sure does not come as any surprise to anyone who even only vaguely knows me! Mommy thought that I would be amused for about 10 minutes, tops- but the first day, I played with it for more than 45 minutes! Because of my interest (and thus a break for mommy) she quickly went out and got me a giant 50+ pack of cookie cutters and more colors so I can make fun animals with my PlayDo. I do  tend to leave pieces lying around even though mommy has tried to teach me how to properly put away everything when I am done. No such luck  with that, yet...but I am sure I will get the hang of it when I can no longer enjoy my Play-Doh time because it is all dried up! Stay tuned to see if this happens and if  I actually start making things...

Mess!!!

One word mommy never really wants to hear come out of my mouth is "mess"...especially when I say it three times in a row and hand her my kitty cat who's whole face is soaking wet and dripping with what she hopes is water. The first thought that runs through her head is whether she left the bathroom door open and the toilet seat up!??!  After a quick check of the first floor- it seems as though all is secure and locked down...so where did I find the water you might be asking??? The kitty water fountain, of course!! Mommy confirmed that this was the source of the wet face and wiskers when she found a few soggy pieces of kitty food floating in the otherwise pristine h2o dispenser. Then it all becomes clear and mommy starts to giggle. It appears that I was just being a good boy and trying to help my kitty cat drink his water. I have seen our real cat Mia drink from the fountain before- so why not my kitty!!  "Cat" as I have so aptly named him, did indeed look like he enjoyed his refreshing yet slightly messy drink- and a quick swipe with some papertowels made short work of the cleanup! No harm, no foul...and I showed that I am responsible enough to care for my pet stuffed animal!

Wonderful World Of Wedgies

One of the ways that I try to bring a little fun into mommy's day is to scream, flail, squirm, shimmy, shake, turn over, and squiggle around while my diaper is being changed. It is a power struggle that has become near and dear to my heart- but one that does not always lead to perfect diaper placement on my cute l'il tushie!!

Birthday Bash!!

One of my most favorite people ever- my god sister, friend and future wife, Greta- turned 2 this week and we got to help her ring in her second year on Saturday with her very own Birthday party!! Unlike her big sister Evie, who is pretty much a tom boy, Greta is a girlie girl- so mommy was totally looking forward to seeing what her party theme would be and all the pretty pink princess loot that she would get! Well- mamma was not at all dissapointed- Auntie KK pulled out all the stops for her youngest and most feminine daughter! It was Micky Mouse themed- so not too girly there...but complete with mouse ears, balloons and a Micky cake. The presents  were oh-so wonderful  and sure did delight with little girl splendor! They brought mommy right back to her youth playing with  Barbies, Cabbage Patch Kids and My Pretty Ponies! The gift tally included princess dresses, tutu's, crowns, baby dolls, a cradle, a highchairs, and more pink than a bottle of Pepto-Bismol!! Greta's friends Lucy and Daniel and their parents were also there for the festivities. At first I was a little concerned that I would not like Daniel since he is my direct competition for Greta's affections- but he was a cool kid so I let his interest in my woman slide for the night!! We had fun playing, eating pizza & cake and watching a movie. There was only one small incident when I threw up on the carpet after eating too much cheese appetizer- but Auntie KK handled it with grace and did not make me feel bad about my party foul! Mommy, daddy and I got to spend the night and had more fun with my girls when we woke up this morning. Thanks for inviting me to your party- I was honored to help you share in you wonderful day! HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY- I LOVE YOU,  PRINCESS GRETA MARIA!!!!

Sleepover at Nana & Grandpop's

Since I did not get to spend much time with Nana and Grandpop over the holidays, mommy and I headed up to their house yesterday so we could have a slumber party!!! I spent a lot of time in their basement, throwing & kicking balls, and learning all about a new sport that I had never heard of before...ping pong!! This is a game that might take me more time than some of the others to master. That darned ball just moves too fast for me- I gotta start honing my skills so that the next time I hang with Nana, I can return those balls that she hits to me! I trapped Grandpop down in the basement for some time with all the balls, feed the fishes, and also forced him to wear a baseball hat while I also wore one that was at least 6 sizes too big. Auntie Court got home around dinner time and I got to go crazy with her- being highly excitable and showing her my fine footwork when we did "quick feet" and ran all aound the kitchen. I expended a ton of energy, stayed up an hour and a half past my time and crashed!! When I  woke up  there was  a light dusting of snow that I should have had a ball playing in.  Nana and Grandpop have the prefect winter wonderland setting for frolicking in the snow- but  I did not want any part of it. I was just not a happy camper being out therein the cold when I knew that there was so many fun things to play wtith inside!  I was a bit cranky and overtired for much of the day after we left their house, even asking to go to bed at 5:00pm-  but I want to go back soon so I can practice my ping pong skills and challenge Nana to a game!! Watch out, Nana- I am a quick learner when it comes to anything sports related or athletic!!!
