On Your Marks...Get Set...Go!!!

Living in a 900 sq ft condo is fun...but it is small compared to our old house. I just don't have as much room to roam. So- quite often mommy makes me take "laps" around the kitchen/family area. That is one way for me to get the sillies and extra energy out- but the other thing that we do is go to the park. Mommy found one within walking distance. It is just some swings and a small play area...but what I like better than all of that is the "track." Basically it is just a small garden surrounded by a brick pathway- but I LOVE running around it. Mommy times me when I do my laps and my average time to circle the garden is 15 seconds. I had a  lot of energy the other day and in total I did 17 laps!!!! Way better than running in the kitchen!

New School

Mommy and I walked to my school today and we had a meet & greet with my teachers & my new classmates. We only stayed for about 15 minutes...just enough time for me to give Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Weathers some ginormous bear hugs and to play with the kids! Mommy even left me to get a tour of the school and I was just fine playing with everyone- I didn't even notice that she had gone. Both of my teachers reassured mommy that they are good at judging kiddos and they knew I was going to be a huge success at this new school. It was fun and I cannot wait to start! I know Friday is only 2 days away- but it cannot get here fast enough...I am just so excited!. After our visit- mommy and I capped off the day with pizza and frozen yogurt. It was literally icing on top of the cake- or I guess in this case, sprinkles on top of  the fro yo!!!

Loud!

OK- I have found one thing that I do not love about city living...Firetrucks careening down a city street- way too fast and way too loud!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Poppy!

For the first time in my life, your birthday is here and I am not able to see you. I just did not know how lucky I was while in Pennsylvania to be able to always count on seeing you within a few days of your birthday. Well- this year is different...but I am still thinking about you and wishing you a very wonderful day even thought I am not with you!!!

Check out Poppy without his mustache- First time he's had a hair free face in 45 years...
I think he's lookin' good!!!

The City Life

Perks of living "Uptown"...

Walking to dinner with mommy and daddy
Seeing "rainbow" buildings and being surrounded by super duper tall buildings
Getting to ride in an elevator EVERY SINGLE DAY
Walking to the park
Walking to the park and seeing daddy on the street during his lunch time
Getting to throw our trash down a garbage shute
Mommy allowing me to open the door to our building using the "fob"
Waiting for the crosswalk sign to turn white- meaning we can now cross the street

These are just what I have come up with in the first couple of days- stay tuned for more as I discover them!

Road Trip to The Queen City

On Thursday, Mommy and I packed up the car,  loaded up on goodies, said goodbye to family and friends and hit the open road!! We left from Avalon and it was scheduled to be a 9 hr trip. During that whole time I only took a 1hr nap. The rest of the time I busied myself with the DVD player, mommy's kindle full of games, Teenage Mutant Ninja TV episodes and some good old ipod tunes- and because of all that,  the trip did not seem (too) long!! We only stopped once for potty, gas and lunch break. Mommy kept asking during the rest of the trip if I needed to stop- or if I just wanted to keep driving so we would get there quicker. I was so excited to see my new home city that I always answered- "Just keep going, mamma!!" So just before dinner time- we arrived in The Queen City. When I saw the city skyline I exclaimed "AWESOME!!! We get to live there with all those ginormous buildings?" The answer I got was YES- at least until we find our new house, that is. So, North Carolina- I am not sure you are quite ready for us...But the Ryan's have arrived!!!!!

Harry Potter Party

We were lucky enough to be in San Diego with Miles when he had his birthday party!!!!! It was a Harry Potter theme and CiCi had been working for about a month prior to the party on all the decorations and party games. It was totally worth all of her work...the party was a Hogwarts success!!!! From all of the creepy crawly food  to the homemade "gack" and" pin the glasses on Harry"- it was seriously the best party ever! Miles and all of his friends had fun and I was just the luckiest little boy to have been included in on all of the fun festivities!!!

Last Day of School

I had my last day of school today. It was sad- but also great to have one more chance to say goodbye to all my classmates. It was the Valentine's party &  also got a bit of a going away party, too...complete with bye-bye cards from each and every one of my friends. I will miss them a ton...but I am looking forward to making new friends when I start my new school on March 1st in Charlotte!!!

My Packed Up Room

So- Last night was the last time I got to sleep in my bed in this house. I did not like sleeping with all the boxes in my room, but mommy told me to just face the wall and not look at them...and it worked like a charm! I was asleep and snoring within minutes. Today is my last day at school and I am super sad to say goodbye to all of my friends...but mommy already found me a school just a few blocks from our condo- so I am really looking forward to that! Mommy has called this time of our loves an adventure...and so far it has been fun! I'll keep you posted on all the fun stuff that we encounter along the way...

Au Revoir, Kensinania!!

Well...it's time!!!! The packers are here, diligently packing up all of our belongings to be put in storage. I am helping them by rolling around on the floor in a basket. Big help, huh??? It seems like a deja vue- 2.5 years ago when we moved from Drexel Hill to...no home!!! Well- us Ryan's like to live life on the edge because we are doing it again! No home to go to in North Carolina yet- but we are moving into a temporary condo for a few months while we take our time and find the perfect house in the prefect neighborhood with lots of kids for me!!! So, Pennsylvania- thanks for being there for a great 5 years...Maybe we will be back some day. Until then, though...Stay tuned for blog posts from The Tar Heel State!!!!!

Letters

I have always been really good with numbers- counting, adding, subtracting...but have never fully appreciated the value of letters until recently. It is not real words that have me hooked on letters- but made up ones that mommy and I have come up with. We play a game where she helps me sound out a real word thru placing wooden letters out on the counter...and while this is fun- I still know that mommy is trying to get me to learn.  That is OK, though- Because I love putting  my own  "words" together and then I have her sound them out for me. More times than not- the words end up sounding like a weird bodily function- which sends me into giggle fits! XRRPHFTTLYYTP, for example...Too hilarious!!!!! I do have to take it seriously, though...I know!!! Even those fake words are still helping me to recognize letter sounds. I can spell Jack Ryan all by myself- but I do still need mommy's help with my long middle name, Samuel. Hey- as long as she tries to keep it fun- I am sure I will have my whole name as well as NNGBTTTRRGKPDS down pat in no time!!!!
